An unfortunate side effect of business travel and long-distance vacation travel is jet lag. But hotel spas can help, with an array of remedies designed to get jet-setting executives back to normal.
Several large hotel companies offer options at their top-line brands. Hilton Hotels & Resorts debuted a Jet Lag Body Remedy in October 2010, available at all of its hotels that have Eforea spa facilities. The 90-minute treatment includes aromatherapy, Swedish massage, a scalp massage and warm foot treatment.
When guests arrive at nearly any Park Hyatt hotel, they can sip Anti Jet Lag Juice, made with kale, carrots, apple, salt and pumpkin seeds — designed to relax, detoxify and balance blood sugar levels.
Jet lag sufferers checking into Crowne Plaza hotels, meanwhile, should take advantage of the brand’s Sleep Advantage program, which features rooms on “quiet zone” floors and sleep amenities including eye mask, drape clip, ear plugs, lavender spray and nightlight.
Thanks to its geographic location, Australia is a top spot for long-distance travelers to seek pampering. The Stamford Plaza Brisbane, for example, offers a jet lag recovery package that includes a room-category upgrade, early check-in and late checkout and a kit with hydration gel and facial mist.
Mexico-bound travelers will find relief at many resorts, including the all-inclusive Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit – All Inclusive, which offers a Jet Lag Ritual with hydrotherapy, a detoxifying massage and presotherapy, which uses airwaves to improve circulation. At Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, the exercise concierge, Carlos Jaramillo, personally advises guests about the best ways to prevent jet lag. Before they know it, road warriors should be on local time.
