Southwest Airlines has priced its new in-flight Internet service: $5 USD per flight, regardless of length of the trip or the device used. Southwest uses an Internet service called Row 44 and the airline says it’ll have 60 aircraft wired by the end of the year. All other U.S. airlines use an inflight WiFi product called Gogo and prices range as high as $12.95 per flight.
- Speaking of Southwest, the first details of its new service from Newark Airport include six daily flights to Chicago/Midway and two to St. Louis. Flights begin March 27.
- Avis Budget, the dual-headed car-rental firm, has joined the JetBlue TrueBlue program.
- The TransportationSecurity Administration (TSA) says printer cartridges that weigh 16 ounces or more are banned from passengers’ carry-on or checked luggage. The restriction is a result of the spate of parcel bombs found in cargo planes in recent weeks.
