A new law went into effect this week, requiring all international visitors to the U.S. from Visa Waiver Program countries to apply for travel authorization. Applications can be submitted online for free at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html.
The Department of Homeland Security recommends that visitors submit travel authorization applications at least 72 hours prior to travel.
The government has created a page to address frequently asked questions, including a list of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program.
